Tea for two!

13 Apr

This past weekend I took off on one of my favorite Lincoln Highway road trips that is relatively close to home.

Here’s where things start to get interesting heading towards East Canton.

First up is the control station in (please correct me if I’m wrong) East Canton itself.

After that I stopped at Kishman’s IGA for some gas and other goodies!  (I wonder if Tom still has that little Chrysler convertible that he took on the cross country tour?)

After stopping at Kishman’s I headed straight for Chester, West Virginia and the World’s Largest Teapot.

After visiting the teapot, I headed back over the bridge to do some exploring in East Liverpool.  I have to confess something that I learned while out and about.  The Lincoln Highway was not where I thought it was in downtown East Liverpool!  So, I tried as best to do some research on the fly and I think I got it right.  The following pictures, therefore, may or may not be taken on the Highway, but even if they aren’t I thought that they were things worth seeing while you’re in town.

First up is this very cool looking building.

This next view is looking down the road at what I think is the Lincoln Highway.

Here’s what you see at the top of the hill, on the corner.

Then, of course is the Museum.

These buildings were on a side street, but I thought they were kind of interesting…

After leaving East Liverpool I headed back home and stopped in Hanoverton.  I had to take the opportunity to stop at the Hanoverton Curio Shop on a day that it was actually open for business!

Here’s a Lincoln Highway marker right across the street.

And, of course also located in Hanoverton is the famous Spread Eagle Tavern, my favorite restaurant in the world!  I didn’t stop in this time, but I’ll be sure to post the next time that I’m lucky enough to stop by.

I left off taking pictures after Hanoverton.  I figured that anything between there and downtown Canton would be closer to home and easy to post about on a day when I had less time for traveling.  So, happy trails until next time.

See you on the road!
