When worlds collide…

When worlds collide…

What happens when a Lincoln Highway fan who is also a silverware artist has some spare time on her hands?

This.

If you remember correctly I said I had a perfect use for those nifty stickers that I got from the Ohio Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor folks.  It just took me awhile to put everything together.

And really, if you think about it, this is the perfect spoon for this necklace.  While I do not know the exact date of its’ production, my best guess is that it was made somewhere right around the time that the Lincoln Highway came into existence.  It’s like this spoon and the Lincoln Highway were made for each other!!!

I bet you can guess what I’ll be wearing at this year’s convention!

Until then, here’s to the spoons and the forks in the road. :)

Ahoy, Mateys! There be treasure along the Lincoln Highway!!

Ahoy, Mateys! There be treasure along the Lincoln Highway!!

(Because one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.)

So…  Anyways.

Yeah, I was out again this week in Orrville and had some time to kill.  This time I ended up heading towards Wooster.  In one of my other lives I use recycled and ‘found’ objects to create art so I went exploring at a few local antique and thrift stores.

First I stopped in at Uptown Downtown which is located at 215 West Liberty Street, Wooster, OH 44691.  Their phone number is 330-262-9735.

I didn’t actually end up buying anything here, but I did find a few interesting items…

Look out, Minnie Pearl!!  (No, this is NOT my hat.) :)

This next thing is just wrong.

Can you read the small label on the can?  It says that the rattling noise that you hear is actually from old coffee beans!

Next I stopped in to Friendtique which happens to be right next door at 223 West Liberty Street #C, Wooster, OH 44691.  Their phone number is 330-262-2012.

Friendtique is run by the Friends of Hospice and all of their proceeds go to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County.

While I was there I found two candelabras that I could use.  Unfortunately I forgot to take their pictures.  Maybe I will show them later on in their final form.

I found some spare Barbie parts or sleeping Barbie zombies, I’m not really sure.  Do zombies sleep?

And some dolls that were awake but not looking very thrilled about it.

All told I spent about $5 on this adventure but had a fun time looking around.  Of course, any day’s a good day when you’ve got a little bit of time to squander driving on the Lincoln Highway.

So until I get to goof off again, here’s to you and here’s to the road…
