A present…. for us all

A present…. for us all

Last night was the Cruise-in at the Lincoln Highway convention and I promise that I will have more to say about it soon when I have a bit more time.  However, for now just let me say that I had tons of fun and my two favorite parts were finally picking up a copy of Brian Butko’s book The Ship Hotel: A Grand View along the Lincoln Highway and also getting to meet Cece Otto from American Songline!  More on both of these later…

So, as today is my birthday I thought I’d share a little present for us all.  For many years I have enjoyed the work of artist Jodee Rose and have asked her to paint quite a few things for me and my business.  I love her work and her style so I recently asked her to recreate something very near and dear to me.  Yes, of course it was the Grand View Ship Hotel!  If you’re interested in having Jodee create something wonderful for you just follow this link to her blarg (blog) where you’ll find lots of fun stuff and her contact information, too.  Thanks, Jodee!

And so, I give you our present!  (Be sure to click on the picture to see it full-sized, it’s awesome!)

Until we meet again, here’s to the Ship Hotel, and here’s to you, too…

Grandpa’s Cheesebarn is better with friends!

Grandpa’s Cheesebarn is better with friends!

All roads lead to the Lincoln Highway, don’t they?

This weekend I went on a non-Lincoln Highway adventure to Origins Game Fair with my boyfriend, Dave, and his son, Jeremy.  Here’s a few pictures from the convention (one of which I may have stolen from Dave)…

On the way home from the convention we stopped in at Grandpa’s Cheesebarn which just happens to be on the Lincoln Highway in Ashland.  It is located at 668 US Highway 250 E, Ashland, OH 44805 and their phone number is 1–800-745-7091.

First we went into the cheesebarn itself

Downstairs they have ice cream and bulk foods.  I tried the sweet potato chips and they were good!

.

Upstairs I found these two cheesy characters.

This is where you find all the cheese with plenty of free samples.  I tried several smoked cheeses, maple bacon cheese, and a cheese with whiskey in it.

Next we went over to Sweeties which is right next door.  It was a good thing that we had eaten lunch right before we came here!  They had so many kinds of candy, fudge, and even sugar-free goodies.

So, the next time you’re traveling along the Lincoln Highway in Ashland or cruising Route 71 stop and take a break at Grandpa’s Cheesebarn and don’t forget to try the cider in the Cider Cave.

Until next time here’s to the coconut bon bons, here’s to the road, and here’s to you…
